Places in the mid-west still have hi grade w/out ethanol fuel. It's a tough decision though, because the mid grade (90 octane) costs the same as the regular(87 octane). The reason is they supposidly subsidize the ethanol grades (which is only mid grade in parts of the mid-west). It kinda makes you wonder why service stations do not do that in across the country. I've noticed some Shell stations still offer a non ethanol hi grade. BP seems to use it in all grades but it is still hit or miss. My advice is shop around your local stations. No ethanol makes a huge differance to me. I drive from Tennessee to North Dakota. I can get 34mpg w/out ethanol and using 93 octane compared to 28 with ethanol. I don't think all auto's notice this huge differance, but the Saab turbo runs way more efficently with 93. 113k and still running great. As gas prices are low (not for long I am afraid to say) it is becoming more economic to exclude using ethanol. Lets hope our freinds at the oil companies get the memo. Good luck.
