Hi Jane
Without having the right tools its hard to pinpoint the amp but here is some tricks for different conditions
1.) Distorted Sound , garble ,popping or missing speakers
Turn the balance control to the back speakers only and if there is no or very little distortion--(70%chance the amp1 or amp2 is bad. This sounds like your problem as you have no rear speakers.

2.) Radio comes and goes ,speakers pop in and out , Display on ICM or SID Intermittently not showing up on Station. Radio sometimes works--80% chance the amp1 or amp2 is bad.

3.) Radio Display does not turn on your ICM ( if you have a screen on your ICM) or Radio Display does not turn on your SID. On this problem your past history comes into play. If your radio just stopped playing there is a good chance your amp1 is bad .

4.) Radio will not turn on and battery is dead or low or when starting it seems as the battery is not charging --disconnect or remove the amp1 under the drivers seat (it is all silver and has Pioneer written on it ) If battery problem goes away the its 90 % chance the amp1 is bad

5.) Radio will not turn on and battery is dead .If you have jump started your car there is a chance that the AMP1 and the ICM is bad. You can have them tested (not by a local audio shop or by a saab dealer, not trying to to say we are the only ones that can test these out of the car but some audio shop can damage the amp and if you go to a dealer the tech 2 only comes out with DTC's and these codes only tell you where the optical bus is open , not why ! -and then its like throwing darts

6.) Radio Stopped just after dealer disabled Onstar. The analog onstar is connected to the optical bus and we have worked on some systems where this was done incorrectly. If anything on the optical bus is not working it is like a bunch of light on a string ,if one goes out they all go out. This also depends on how the onstar is disabled
