I live in Mexico City, no experts so far on saab around here, and I have a saab 9-3 viggen, 2001. Everything was doing fine until I decided to fix an oil leak on the main engine. The mechanic removed the engine and changed all seals, and the even we sent the engine head (that’s name correct? Not very familiar which car English terms) so they put it in the metallic brush machine. They pack the engine back and I started having problems with the TB, I tried to manually reset the limp home mode and no luck. The symptom is that on a good run where turbo goes to some degree of full power and then I leave the accelerator, rpm back to 1,000) and the car engine will stop, so I have to stop, put the car on parking and start engine again, also in neutral position or in reverse the car would shut down.

I decided to send the car to one of the only two authorized saab dealers in Mexico City, since I read a post here that was talking about internet software programming of the TB as the possible solution and only way to fully reset 9-3 saabs, and they do so and the car did better. Now the engine didn’t turn of when doing a fast acceleration to pass a car but the engine wasn’t all stable on a traffic light and did worse when I put it on neutral position. Even if I was running and changed from drive to neutral and tried to leave the car go with the impulse, the engine will shut down.

So I returned to the saab dealer and they told me that I needed to change the TB and do the software programming again. They did so and the car stills with the same trouble. The car would shut down in neutral position.

I am going crazy, don’t know what to look at, where the problem might be. Before that I only needed to change the DYI and the crank sensor. I loved my car, and now I have been for a month dealing with this….Please HELP.
