07 and newer sport sedans have the SID (SAAB Info Display) located in the instruments instead of up on the top of the dash. When they made that change in 07 they got ride of some information that you could get on the old SID (like oil quality).
The reason why yours came on so early was because it comes on after 1 year or 10,000 miles. The counter starts the day the car was built, so if the car sat at the port and on the dealer lot for awile, or you don't drive it much, the service message could come up at an early milage. If you were to look at the vin sticker on your drivers door jamb, you would see the actual month and year the car was built, and my guess is the service message came on one year after that date.
