Looking internally, it has design details that are old hat to Saab but have never been seen before on a GM engine. The cam drive, balance shafts, combustion chamber geometry, all scream "Saab". To the package GM brings roller cam followers (vastly more efficient), manufacturing technology (lost foam precision casting), and the muscle to develop the engine to maturity before putting it on the road. The water pump is a work of art (and it better be - it's going to be frightfully difficult to replace), and the slender poly-V belt has just 2 accessories and the tensioner pulley. Performance wise, it produces 5 more hp and more torque than the "venerable" 2 liter Saab motor at a third lower boost pressure.
As for the model name, the 2.0T designates the engine, and "Arc" designates the interior trim level. In Europe, you can separately choose interior trim level and engine, in the US, it's either a 2.0T Arc or a 2.8t Vector (which also defines it as an Aero). But terms like "Linear", "Arc" and "Vector" are too confusing for many Americans, so the marketeers just call the 2.0T and Aero.
