Ticking from under dash in 2005 9/3 Aero Cvtbl

I have a 2005 9/3 Aero Convertible with about 110K miles. Manual transmission, though I'm doubtful that matters for this little problem...
This just started last week: Sometimes (but only every now and then) when I turn off the car and remove the key from the ignition, the car makes a "tick-tock" noise (it sounds a little like a relay clicking on and off) for about ten or fifteen seconds. The sound seems to be coming from behind the dash, between the radio and the glovebox. It stops all by itself. Sounds a little like a turn signal click, but of course the turn signals aren't flashing. It also happened once while I was driving...again, it lasted only a few seconds, and I have no idea why it started, or why it stopped.
Anyone have any clue what this might be?
