The problems with the '03s were primarily to the first owners under warranty. Most of them should be pretty well sorted by now. At 7 years old, condition trumps theory IMHO. I would take an immaculate '03 over an average '05 any day.
Being a 6spd, it avoids one of the biggest issues anyway, which was coolant leaking into the automatic transmission and cooking it.
I would be wary of a cheap clutch job though - they may be skimping on the quality and/or quantity of parts replaced. I would rather get $600 off the price and have it done myself. Sellers amaze me - why would you even advertise a car with a major issue like a bad clutch? Fix it, THEN sell the car!
