I have a strange audio issue with an 05 93 Aero convertible. The audio system will intermittenly turn itself on and off while driving. When on, it functions fine, sometimes for 15 minutes, sometimes for 15 seconds. The duration of it being off can be anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes. There is no pattern that I have been able to discern.

The second thing is that if the car is off and the key removed, the audio system will turn itself on and off as well, if the car is not locked. If we lock the doors, the radio stays off.

We just purchased the car and I've been reading all of the posts here trying to educate myself as to this system and gather information. I've talked to a couple of people and one opinion is that it is the ICM2. Another seems to think that it is the EHU. The only thing that bugs me is that when this happens, I still have turn signal audio, even though the sound and display is dead. Everything that I have read pretty much states that when the components fail, all is gone, but that doesn't seem to be the case here. I had the car into an independent and he said the O-Buss is intact and he believes it's the EHU acting intermittenly. I'm not saying he's wrong, but I'm not completely convinced either. The fact that it turns itself on and off with the key removed is bugging me into thinking that there is something else interfering with the signal path causing this intermitten condition.

Does anyone have any thoughts, or am I destined to parts swap until we find the bad component?

This is the ICM2, Infotainment Plus, 300W system. Thank you for any and all ideas!
