A couple a weeks ago I hit a BOSTON POTHOLE in my wife's 04 9-3 Aero. This resulted in a nasty rattle in the front right. I put it up on the lift and the strut was blown, there was fluid from it all over the place.
Now for the fun part- I called 2 dealers and they weren't able to confirm the correct struts for the car. Using the VIN# they come up with several different options, Using the code on the door jamb (the fifth # is 1) they pulled up a part # that doesn't say Aero(or non-Aero), finally the part# on the strut (12 797 615) is different from the part # corresponding to the code on the door jamb and also does not say if it's for an Aero or not.
They said they would look into it and give me a call but I was hoping somebody here would know something...
