When you turn off yor PC at home, do you pull out the cord from the wall or follow the command prompts for shut down?
If following the shut down commands, why, since pulling the cord will give the same result, turning off the computer.
If you are afraid that your computer would get messed up by pulling the cord, that's the way you should look at a modern car.
It is a highly computerized Network environment on 4 wheels and some of the cars don't take likely on violent voltage drops and spikes which occurs with dead batteries and quick jump starts.
The car actually needs to go to "sleep" just like a home computer before electronic parts are removed.
Many times you might get away with not doing it but then suddenly, the stars are all lined up and you end up with strange electronic problems or fried parts that might cost a lot to repair.
So jump starting a modern car with dead battery is a bad idea and you should instead charge up your old battery or replace it with a fully charged one before trying to start the car.
