Just checking out there to see if any Techs or owners have had their compressors on the 2.8L v6 engine. In the last two weeks, two local customers have come in with locked up compressors on their Aeros.
First is an '06 Aero Sedan 52,100 miles. He ended up taking it to dealer in Orlando to try to get Saab to pay for a portion of the repairs as he was only 2,000 miles outside of warranty. Ends up, Saab is going to pay 100% of his repair bill, to the tune of $3400. (Client is a very loyal customer and has two newer 9-3 models and always buys new from Orlando)
Second is an '07 Aero Sedan 39,000 miles. He was unaware he was still under factory warranty until Feb '11 when we called and checked with Saab. He also took his to the dealer in Orlando and is having the entire repair (along with many other common trim parts) covered under warranty.
These compressors list out around $1400 from Saab (ouch). Just curious if this is becoming a common failure on the 2.8L. Have only replaced one compressor on the 2.0 to date, an '03SS with over 185k on it.
