At 113K, I would probably replace the whole pump unit, but then again, you seem to be able to drop the tank with ease, so you might not mind doing it again in the next 20-50K miles (or 5).
When car makers comes out with repair solutions like this, it is because they start to see failures when cars are still under warranty which means low mileage.
That's when it make sense for them to install just a repair kit and not the whole unit.
When a car has starting to reach normal mileage like yours, it might make more sense to replace the whole unit to not having to do it again soon.
