Need some help with next steps when I go back to my dealer regarding coolant leak. My Saab is a 2004 9-3 Arc, manual with 99,600.
About a month ago the SID indicated "low coolant". Checking the expansion tank I found it a little low so I added antifreeze to the required level. A few days latter the same thing happened. I looked at all the connections at the tank, the tank itself (for cracks), radiator, and could find no evidence of a leak. Based on some earlier posts on this site I replaced the expansion tank cap. Problem repeated.
Last week I took the car to the dealer assuming it would be the water pump. They called indicating the problem was crack/leak at the thermostat cover (a plastic part). They replaced the cover, also changing out the thermostat and doing a coolant flush/refill. Now three days latter the SID "low coolant" indicator was on this morning, and the level is low. I've added some antifreeze and will call the dealer after Christmas.
Looking for any thoughts anyone might have. I'm back to assuming water pump, but would have thought the dealer tech would have been able to check that out when doing the thermostat and cover.
