I'm really interested in finding out the actual numbers for clearance on these cars (and vs 9-3X) and what is the lowest point: the spoiler lip, or elsewhere? the absolute numbers seem to be hard to find in Saab literature (though iirc the 9-3X has 35mm than the normal 9-3sc)... I'm pretty sure (for comparison purposes) the c900 and 9-5 linear were both 150mm.
I guess the 2 main factors are overall clearance + the entry/exit angles. The spoiler lips limit the angle of approach on a hill, but a low point under the car limits clearance. My perception is that the newer Saabs (eg 9-3ss) have a bit lower clearance, but maybe it is perceived due to the spoiler lip + reduced entry angle...
if anyone knows the numbers, would be awesome to see! I'm interested to see for sure the clearance of the 9-3X + how that relates... I thought it was 165mm (and 35mm more than the 9-3) but I'm not 100% sure if those numbers are correct...
(fwiw both our c900's have license plates bent to conform to the bumper angles due to driving through snowbanks)
James...
