Well, I'm back again about the wiper chatter, trying to see if anyone has any other solutions that I can try (I'm pretty sick of trying to diagnose the issue and thinking that I just need a new windshield).
Car is an '09 2.0T sedan. In the past 6 months or so, I've tried 2 new pairs of OEM SAAB blades, one set of TRICO blades, one set of Goodyear blades, and one set of Bosch ICON blades (all of them nearly identical to the OEM blade design). They all chattered after about 10-20 wipes in a rainstorm. Bosch ICONs make the least amount of noise so that's what I have on the car now. When I say chatter, I mean unbelievably loud noises that should never come from windshield wipers. As in I just turn them off and only wipe when necessary because they're just that loud.
There is absolutely NO buildup on the windshield. I've cleaned it with glass cleaner, Bon Ami cleansing powder, rubbing alcohol, and I even clayed the windshield. No changes after these attempts. I even went as far as to try Rain-X, which I thought usually does cause chatter because of the waxy buildup. Finally I tried slightly bending the wiper arms with vice-grips and a towel to try and change the angle of contact for the actual blade. Still chattered.
Car is practically brand new so I'm perplexed.
Any new ideas or suggestions? I used to kind of enjoy driving in the rain, but now I really dislike it. Thank you in advance for reading about this small issue that drives me bonkers.
