Rear brake caliper piston retractor adapter Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Mon, 25 Apr 2011 16:37:58 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I know the rear brake caliper pistons require a specific adaptor to rotate the piston to retract it. I have heard the small Harbor Freight piston retractor kit does not contain the correct adapter, while the larger (and seemingly never on sale) Harbor Freight kit does have the right tool.
Since each manufacturer seems to use one or more specific styles of piston adapters, is there a uniform style identification system? Such as a style 101, 77c, GM2, etc.? How can a prospective buyer know if a kit contains the adapter(s) they will require?
If there is a numbering system, which style is required for the 9-3SS family rear brakes? Specifically, the 2006 9-3SC 2.0T model.
Thanks,
