First off, your on the new(er) 9-3 board. Below is a link to your model specific board for a 2000 9-3. If you are getting a P0340 DTC then its time to replace your IDM (Direct Ignition Cassette) Saab pn55559955; List is now $400.
There rarely is a fault code set for crankshaft position sensor (they are different than camshaft ps). The crankshaft position sensor measures the rotational speed of the engine crank and gives the Trionic ECM a double break in signal when the engine spins past TDC (aperture disc on crank has two slots in this location). Most common failure is no start (but cranks okay) on a hot engine; but will fire just fine when the engine is cold.
