Thinking of Painting ground effects on '08 SC

Hi,
I have an '08 smoke beige Sport Combi.
I feel that the side view of the car needs something.
I like the '07 door guard strip (but it requires a channel).
I don't think I want to put an aftermarket door guard on the car.
So I thought I could paint the ground effects black to make it disappear.
I also thought about tinting the windows (all except the fronts).
Any thoughts?
