I've not tried it on a Saab, but do have a MityVac 8.8L tank that I've used on 3 other cars. Trick is to let the engine sit off for 15 minutes after normal use, then ask the car to bend over.
You can test if it would work by purchasing 3' lengths of the translucent white plastic tubes from a hardware store. Get tube OD's to match what comes in the kit:
http://www.mityvac.com/pages/products_fee.asp
That would be around .26" and .23" OD.
Make sure at least one inserts freely, about 1.5" to 2" deeper than the dipstick. Best if the larger one fits.
I have the 7201 because one of the cars needed the extra capacity. The 7400 at 7.3L should work fine.
Good Luck
