Picked up my wife's '06 9-3SC tonight from the Dealership after they installed new front springs. So far GM is refusing to honor any warranty because the new springs are Lesjofors brand rather than Saab brand.
Since GM was unable to provide new springs in any reasonable foreseeable future (they estimated two months for parts) I ordered my own from Europe. I knew the likelihood of parts reimbursement would be slim at best but I wanted the car fixed correctly, and soon. GM is also refusing to pay for labor since they did not provide the parts, conveniently forgetting they are currently unable to provide parts and a car with a broken spring is unsafe to drive.
The Dealership thinks this is crappy so they have submitted copies of all invoices to GM for reimbursement on my behalf. Everyone at GM who has heard the story feels likewise and says small claims court should be my next move (even the employees hate the company!)
I'll wait a bit to determine what to do, but at least the car is now safe to drive and my total out of pocket costs (parts & labor) are not too bad at under $400. The supreme irony is that Lesjofors may be the manufacturer of Saab OEM springs, and failure to use Saab brand springs is GM's point for refusal to pay.
Yeah, I could have accepted GM's offer to drive a POS from Enterprise for a couple months until parts became available while my wife's car sat in the Dealer's back lot collecting snow and vermin poop for months. But I look at paying the $400 as being the better choice, and I hope I may still receive some warranty compensation.
