Amp failure Posted by targa85 [Email] ![]() ![]() |
I have a 2006 9-3 Aero Convertible and the stereo system failed recently. The turn signals have no sound; the stereo just won't turn on. I took it to a shop and they advised me that the amp2 in the trunk failed. Subsequently, I located the amp in the trunk and the part number is 12757371. I understand that is the amp for the 300 watt stereo system. I have several questions.
I read somewhere that the amp in the trunk may have a blade fuse. Is this true on my car year and model? If so, where is the fuse on the amp?
Does this amp2 require tech II "marriage" to install a used or rebuilt one?
Since this amp is not under the drivers seat and, therefore, not subject to water damage-what is the logical cause of it's failure? Can it be rebuilt reasonable? I note a number of used units for sale on Ebay.
At about the same time as the failure of the amp, I noted that the lock/unlock button on the drivers side door failed to work. Could this be associated with the amp 2 failure?
If I elect to bypass the amp2, which speakers will work, which speakers won't work?
Thanks in advance. I'm trying to learn about this car and this forum is very helpful.
