First auto tranny oil drain and refill Posted by MI-Roger [Email] ![]() ![]() |
After 6+ years of use and 50K miles I did the first drain & refill on the auto tranny in our '06 9-3SC today. These cars do have a dipstick on the transmission, short plastic dip stick, lime green in color, and visible from above.
Access to the dipstick is only from below but you will need to remove a bolt with a 12mm head located next to the dipstick which secures it into the transmission case. I needed two extensions, a 12-inch and a 10-inch, to reach the bolt from above. Not enough wrench swinging space around the bolt to remove it from the underside. I also needed a transmission funnel with a hose tip to pour fluid in from the top.
I checked the oil level on the dipstick and measured the oil which drained out at 3-3/4 quarts. 3-3/4 quarts of Toyota Type T-IV went back in. I will do this job a second time in the spring when the car will likely have 53K miles on the odometer.
