Seth,
Buy the Saab. It is a much more practical choice. The only thing I can see wrong with it is, is possibly the color. It can seat your family, its safer, more luxurious and comfortable. It is a standard with a new clutch, is four years newer. It has a clean car fax and is very close on price. Sounds like a SWEET DEAL to me.
The Saab won't handle like the Miata right now, but with some extra cash spent at Genuine Saab and Tire Rack, I think you could make it handle pretty close to a Miata. Just a matter of good tires, a subframe brace or two, poly suspension and steering bushings, sport shocks and springs (replace when your due for struts and shocks) and you should be REAL good. :)
Well I hope that helps. Go pull the trigger on the Saab. You have owned two before this one and enjoyed both. I am certain you will enjoy the 2004 9-3...they handle great in my opinion and are so fun to drive with a stick. Take it easy Seth.
