Diagnosing an O-ring break Posted by Chadwick [Email] ![]() ![]() |
'05 9-3 Sedan, basic audio (1amp)
Radio inop. ICM type 1 (without screen). Radio will not turn on or display anything in SID. Fuse 14 in dash OK.
Scanned for DTC's and O-ring break detected. Followed procedure of removing negative cable for a few minutes and reconnecting, then performing O-ring break test on Tech 2. Test comes back with 'Unable to detect location of O-ring break."
Called up ICM on the bus and get response on both P and I bus. EHU will not respond, CDCR will also not respond.
Pulled AMP1, completely roached with rust on the casing and in the connector as per usual. No fiber light on either of the fiber wires. Where to go next? My understanding is the light for the O-bus is generated from the EHU and then goes from there. Start at EHU?
I was never trained on fiber optic radio systems and have always had to just figure it out as I went along. I guess I'm just looking for a more definitive diagnostic strategy when then Tech 2 is of no help.
