Front Coil Springs Posted by Sondeen [Email] (#796) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Sondeen) on Thu, 3 Jan 2013 19:37:05 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Today I had the front coil springs replaced after one broke pulling out of a parking space last Sunday in our 2006 9-3 SC, 91k. Dealer was able to replace these under the GM special warrantee (10yr / 125,000 mile limit). Posting just to let folks know GM is still following through with this coverage.
GM covered pair of springs and zinc coated spacer cup parts, plus labor, but not an alignment, even though dealer recomended an alignment as front end was taken apart and put back together. I grumbled about this, as I just had the car aligned in late October, the dealer offered to cut the alignment price in half for me. Dealer said they have done a few of these spring replacements over the last year, and pushed on GM to cover the alignment in the past, but no deal. FYI, dealer is in East Hartford CT. I suppose I am just happy that the spring broke while still under warrantee, and also not while doing highway speeds. Murphy's law had me thinking the spring would go at 10yrs and a week due to the fact that salt use in CT is not quite as severe as in Northern New England or perhaps the upper mid west.
