I had an '06, my daughter has an '08. Comparing them:

The 6 speed is definitely a more modern design, with slightly shorter throws and, of course, one more speed. But the 5 speed was heavily reworked for the 9-3SS, with changes to the synchronizers to bring them up to snuff. The button dash has a tendency for the surface to peel off the buttons, and it is less intuitive to use. 'O6 was the last year for the fiber-optic radio, and things like blue tooth are easier to implement with the GM Standard radio. '06 was the last year for the classic oil life monitor, I think. At least on the '08 the "major service" interval is rolled into the calculation, so it's not a pure "oil life" measurement any longer.

But to be sure, the cars are more alike than they are different. And yes, 11K is a little stiff for a MY '07, but then the miles on it are very low.
