Electronics are more reliable than you think. And when some of then do fail, there is now many places to have them rebuilt. After market is always there to supply demand when it exists.
By the way, I'm more concerned about body/cosmetic parts. I just bought a door window seal/trim for my 08 9-3. I had to order it via the dealer, no other sources were available. If they are b/o there, you have to live with it.
So for me, buying this 08 is not a high risk affair. I do all my maintenance, i keep my cars very tidy. The old 9-5 2001 still has 100% functionality, including headlight wipers and fog lamps. It is not that expensive nor difficult to acheive. Thanks eeurpoarts, eBay, especially ebay.co.uk where parts are abundant.
And it is more fun to keep an old Saab on the road than a similar vintage Audi or BMW...
