What you see is the normal behavior of an ECU that switch in "limp-mode" to protect the expensive bits of your engine.
So, when you accelerate hard, you may have a boost leak or a bad sensor or cheap gas that would cause knock or another dangerous malfunction.
To diagnose this, you must first get at the ECU with a code reader. If there's a CEL, there is a trouble code stored in the ECU. Find a code reader, and tell us what it is.
