As Anders said, prepare to have a replacement cap handy since yours will probably separate into two pieces. Keep turning the cap off and pulling it up. The fluid level is from within the tank, there are two stages you can see with a flashlight, one for cold another for hot level.

Taliaferro Saab has a really nice B284 metal expansion tank with high quality Cosworth coolant cap along with an upper strut brace for only $320. I'm starting to see a few of the later ceramic tanks from Saab crack and need replacement again. Since a new expansion tank kit from Saab is $130, makes this a great deal. Would like to see them offer the tank separate so it can simply replace an OEM tank without needing to install the brace (for the non sport inspired driver of the bunch).
