Just Lost 1st and 6th Gear and then a Miracle

My car is a 2004 9-3 Aero, 6 speed manual, 67,000 miles. I am seriously freaking out and haven't found anything like this in here. I was crusin along at 40 in 5th when I needed a little boost so I dropped directly down to 3rd (never an easy thing to do with this tranny, shifting into anything except the next sequential gear, I mean) and gained some quick momentum. At about 5k RPM I went to change to 4th and believe I caught 6th with a grind, nothing scary, not a clunk or anything, so I went back to neutral and 5th. No problem. But when I went to gently put it back into 6th I couldn't. The shifter will go halfway down to 6th but then I just get resistance and it won't drop all the way into gear. So I stopped at the next light, freaking, went to shift into 1st to take off and got the exact same symptom as 6th gear. Reverse, 2, 3, 4 and 5 are perfect. Shifting still very smooth.

NOW HERE IS THE KICKER. About 8 miles of gentle driving and "feeling the problem out," I got 1st again...yup. I was sitting at a light and attempted to lightly check it for the 5th or 6th time and the damn thing slipped right into first and took off like it was brand new. 6th is still out but I'm praying for another miracle.
