It's quite common that door lock motors give up on both Saab's and Volvo's, front and rear. They have done that since they were introduced in the early 80's.
The problem with modern cars are that the lock motor is integrated with the whole lock/latch unit of the car and has to be replaced as one piece.
In the 80's and early 90's it was a separate lock motor that pulled on a rod to the latch unit and could be replaced by its own.
The door lock unit is a plug and play and doesn't need to be coded to car.
