How many miles are on the vehicle currently? 2.0L or 2.8L?
First thing I recommend on the 2008-2011 9-3 2.0L is a COLD ENGINE compression and cylinder leak down check. Seeing a lot more B207s with low or no compression within the engine cylinder. GM changed the intake valve and they dont hold up like the 2003-2007 MYs. R&R the cylinder head, new valves, new valve seats, seals and all the fluids/gaskets that are required. Special camlock tools are required in order to set the engine timing as there are no markings. Not to scare you, but it seems to be more and more common lately and is a very expensive repair.
I would recommend calling around to some local (or within your range of acceptable travel) and asking to have a Pre Purchase Inspection done by a Saab competent garage. If you cannot find a good knowledgeable shop within a reasonable range it may not be a good choice for your next vehicle. These newer vehicles have quite a lot of VIN programmed modules including vehicle keys and other theft related components that require a GM Tech2 with Saab programming, CanDI module, and online TIS2Web Saab security access.
