Just broke 100k, about 40-50k since my last auto trans fluid change, so I went through the same process this past weekend: drain two quarts, fill two quarts, drive around a bit, drain two quarts, fill two quarts. The car acted normally for about 20 miles of driving, then upon hard accel (>50% throttle), it went from 2 to neutral to 3. Normal accel, no problems. I was able to repeat this a couple more times. Two items I can think of, rather than use the GM AW-1 fluid, I used the Ford Motorcraft equivalent (recommended by numerous sites as a replacement, used in the same trans by Ford etc). I've since ordered 4 qts of AW1, so I'll be changing it again. Second item is that to refill this trans, the battery/box must be removed, thus resetting ECU and TCM. I'm wondering if the odd behavior is the TCM figuring things out? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Will update if the fluid change helps.
