Studs on the body pan, and simple stamped nuts to hold it in place. Whats happening to mine is the heat shield is corroding around the outer perimeter of the nuts, making the hole much bigger. So in addition to the nuts you'll also need some big fender-washers or something like that.
Heat shield above the rear muffler is held on the same way.
