Dead battery with no warning, change at 6 year intervals or soone Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Fri, 31 Aug 2018 16:12:59 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Almost no warning. I started the car this morning and it required an almost imperceptibly longer crank time. Enough to cause me to think about the age of the battery and decide to pay closer attention at every future start.
Three other starts today with no issue. At the fourth start all I got was chattering of the starter solenoid. Luckily the Car Hop at the Chili Dog Drive-In heard the sound and came running over to offer a jump from his Mustang before I was even out of our car.
This is my wife's daily driver and when I explained what I had heard this morning at first start, she said she heard the same thing yesterday but not previously.
Per my memory the failed battery was 6-1/2 years old. Better change these based in age alone as the usual weak battery warnings may never occur.
