2009 9-3 Aero Convertible, 2.8 V6, 50K miles. What is the advisability of discarding the main plastic engine cover on top of the V6? Does it serve a purpose other than appearance and cleanliness? Airflow for cooling? I'm dealing with a heat sink problem and wondering whether this might help improve cooling while the car is standing. The insulation mat on the hood is present and in good condition. I will probably post a longer question on the heat issue later, but thought I'd ask this and see if I'm contemplating something reasonable, or stupid. Thanks, Steve
