The 9-3SC numbers seems about right by doing a quick calc in my head.
For comparison, a Volvo V60 has around 28 cf behind the rear seat (per the internet) but only 48 cf with the seats folded. Makes our 9-3 SCs shine in comparison. Mine certainly swallows lots of bags of mulch every year.
To get the same cargo volume you’d probably have to go with some Subaru model or a Volvo XC70 (pricey). A VW Golf wagon might be your ticket and low-end models are dirt cheap (low-$20K for S models with a stick in SoCal).
