That is a little bit unusual and I suspect it might be the DDM (driver door module).
The more common failure is that the lock motor stops working in both direction and usually when the car is hot and then it starts working again when cold.
That the lock motor works both ways using the door lock button might indicate that the lock logic inside DDM uses different circuits depending on if the DDM receive lock signal from remote or door button. It is after all a mini computer.
I have replaced a few DDM for lock failures but I have not paid too much attention to the exact failure scenario since I have a good used DDM to test with and I just plug that one in and if it works, I replace the DDM.
