I own two XWD Saabs. My 2008 Aero XWD V6 (2.8L/280HP) typically gets 16-17 L/100km in winter driving, and 13-14 L/100km in summer city driving. Best I've ever gotten on the highway with it is 7.8 L/100km.
My 2011 9-3X 2.0T (2L/210HP) gets only marginally better at 14-15 L/100km winter, 12-ish in summer city driving and best on the highway is 8.0 L/100km. So, strangely, the 2.0L gets pretty the same gas mileage as the 2.8L V6, but it does use the far less expensive regular gas. However, I do find a noticeable difference between driving style with both engines (i.e. leadfoot vs. lightfoot).
