Background: 2006 SAAB 93 MT, 2.0T Sedan, battery drain in 2-3 days, current draw 200 ma to 2a
Current draw appears through F30 (Engine bay) which supplies ISM (ignition switch) and CIM via ISM via F2 fuse in drivers side panel fuse box (#22).
I believe some have indicated if the ignition key is left in the car (locked) position, then battery drain can occur. I believe this is true because the steering lock and CIM are still active if the key is in place. Normally when one inserts the key (locked position), a signal is sent to the CIM (column module) to "wake Up" the CIM.... One should "hear" the steering column unlock when the key is inserted in the lock position. In my 06 Saab, one could not hear the column unlock until the key was turned past the lock position (OFF, ON, Start). This is unlike my other 06 and 07 Saab 93s. Because of this I believe the CIM module does not go to "sleep" when the key is pulled out (i.e. problem with the ISM). I plan to replace the ignition switch and report back the results. BTW, the CIM was replaced new a couple of years ago, most likely not the problem.
