FWIW - Fuel Pump Posted by DaveofFairfax [Email] (#2237) [Profile/Gallery] (more from DaveofFairfax) on Fri, 30 Jun 2023 18:59:36 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
In May 2022, I got the idea to preemptively replace the fuel pump on my '08 9-3 Convertible with 232K miles. Took the car and pump to my mechanic, who installed it. $230 for the fuel pump (Delphi) from eEuroparts, $750 to install - $980 total.
Last week, at 238K miles, my fuel pump failed - in a McDonald's Drive Thru. McD's provided a couple of lads to push me through, and yes, they did hand me my food as I passed the Drive Thru window.
Had car towed to my mechanic who replaced the fuel pump with a SAAB fuel pump for $1,050. He provides a 2-year warranty.
The moral of my story: When I take my car to my mechanic, I'll let home provide the parts (and the warranty).
BTW, eEuroparts' return policy required that you purchase the replacement part from them. Not worth the trouble in this instance.
