Hello and Preventative Maintenance advice sought Posted by Chip Fichot [Email] (#2597) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Chip Fichot) on Thu, 14 Sep 2023 12:28:07 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Wanted to say Hello to the regulars on this board - I will likely be posting with some frequency as I get to know my new-to-me '08 2.0 vert (96K mi) (also have a '03 9-5 2.3 lpt 37K mi that I will be parting with soon...).
I'm working on some repairs and preventative maintenance that I'm able to perform myself and I'm planning on taking it to a Saab indy prior to garaging it for the winter for anything needing 'heavy lifting'.
Aside from engine and cabin air filters and new plugs, I was wondering if replacing the coils is advisable for this engine as it is on the 2.3 (I keep the original ignition cassette as a spare in the trunk).
I also saw some references in older posts about valves burning through; would it be advisable to proactively change the oxygen sensors and Mass Air Flow sensor (cheaper than a $2500 valve job)?
Any other recommendations (either that I can potentially do myself or ask the Indy about)?
TIA
Chip
