Yes you probably shouldn't connect jumper cables between another car and the Saab without first disconnecting the actual battery cables in the Saab. So in other words for the jump you are briefly charging the battery from the other car with the rest of the Saab electrical system disconnected. I knew this was the case for pretty much all modern cars due to delicate electronics, but I lazy that one time. AMP1 is a primary suspect to get zapped that way. I also temporarily lost my blower motor. Thought that one was going to be a fuse, but after disconnecting the battery cables and jumpering them together for ten minutes, the blower motor came back afterward (whew). The battery jump wasn't enough that time anyway and I had to remove and charge the battery. It is a 2003 and I'm the original owner with only 37,300 miles on the car. Began working exclusively from home around 2012 and that's why the miles are so low. If I don't run the car enough the battery charge is too low, and of course you lose some capacity each time it runs down and has to be charged again. Now that I have the Bluetooth FM transmitter in the car I am running it more in the evenings due to the large choice of streaming options.
Yes I have the 9-3 SS with the 13 speaker sound system. It sure doesn't look like 13 speakers, but a few of the speakers on the back deck I believe have multiple speakers in them. I could Google it or look in the manual but that's what I recall. Probably the same thing for your SC and you have the subwoofer which I don't have. I have to get the AMP1 issue taken care of so I get the door speakers working again. A lot of the oomph (technical term) in the sound system is from those front door speakers. It seems the system is tuned for a more front and center sound stage. I do have my rear speakers sounding pretty good though with everything temporarily panned to the rear.
