Heater Blower Stops Running after 30 Seconds

I have a confusing issue that developed this summer with 2006 9-3 2.0L Sedan, Auto. I replaced the heater fan last year because the old one had got wet and stiff. The result was a burned plug into the resistor. I chased down a very expensive plug and carefully spliced into old wiring. With my new (used) and old resistor the fan and variable, slow and fast speeds but stops after 25-30 seconds. I have another resistor I've tried with new blower and I see the same behavior. Stops at 25-30 seconds. I have another blower and I have tried both resistors and same behavior. Stops at 25-30 seconds. I have checked the fuse (the big one on side of dash, and I have replaced the relay with one I know to work. No change. Since I don't know for a fact that the used resistor is good, I have purchased a new TRQ Resistor and waiting for it.
I feel like I'm missing something. What system in the car would make the blower stop running after 25-30 seconds and is there some trouble shooting step I"m missing.
I would really appreciate some help or suggestions with this heater problem. Thanks
