I've had my Vector since late July '03 and I still love the car. I have never scraped the front end, but I take extra care - it is a low car. I have 17" snow tires (Pilot Alpin) and it goes just fine as long as you drive like you have some sense. And I live in Michigan, so the car does see the white stuff.
I fixed the rattles and I upgraded the stereo, but the 6-speed trans can be clunky when the car gets really cold overnight. Five minutes into my drive and it is no longer an issue. Since I drive like grandma until the car warms up, I never really thought it was a big deal. I drive like grandma on fire once the car is warm and have no complaints.
Performance goodies for the T8 cars are still in their infancy stages, but if that is your plan, make sure you get the B207R in the Arc or Aero versus the B207L in the Linear. There are more than just little changes between the two - turbos, injectors, piston rings, etc as well as transmissions. The new 6-speed is a lot nicer unit than the 5-speed if you like banging your own gears.
I have seen an upgraded intercooler, upgraded turbo, the usual drop-in air filters, mufflers, and several ECM swaps or upgrades - so they are around. Keep tabs on the perf board for new news.
What ever you decide to do, I hope you like your new car!
