Use some common sense here. If the oil low enough to be below the "add" mark, using a quart of non-synthetic is better than not adding anything.
Unless the oil is down to the "add" mark, there really isn't much point in adding.
The dealer should be using good oil, but they might be a Saab and something else dealer, with a bottle of Saab oil in front and a tank of lowest-bid bulk non-synthetic oil in the back.
Incidently, your warranty cannot be voided by using a "non-approved" oil unless that oil causes a problem (most unlikely). Until very recently, Saab recommended (strongly) against use of synthetic oil. Now that they have their name on the bottle, the tune has changed.
I wouldn't trust the folks at JiffyLube to work on my 85 Saab, much less a new one!!
