I have a 2003 9/3 Vector with the same problem. Transmission slips between 2nd and 3rd and sometimes even between 3rd and 4th. Good thing there's a rev limiter on the engine!!! I've had it into the dealer 3+ times and they cannot seen to duplicate the problem since it's intermittent. They even had it for a full week and a half, with mechanics driving it home and apparently could not replicate the problem. Finally, the head mechanic contacted Saab Technical Support and found that there have been many 9/3's with this problem and there was a software patch available for download. According to the mechanic, the problem involves the software keeping a valve inside the transmission open too long allowing air into the system. Whether or not this is exactly true, I don't know. That was the explaination I got. The mechanics uploaded the software patch and I still have the problem. I'm beginning to think there is more to this problem than a software glitch. Any thoughts?
