Saabs are quite differant compared to other cars. Other cars you simply put a MBC and your done, but not with a Saab. An example of this is that with a mbc on a t-5 ng900 the cut off is at 17psi, so most set the mbc to 16psi. If you add an upgraded ecu then the cut off is around 22psi. You can also do other things to allow you to boost higher but that is for another day.
On a t-7 9-3 if you add a mbc your actually going to reduce your performance by putting the car in a limp home mode. You need to install a series manual boost controller(SMBC) and then this will only allow for a decrease in turbo lag. If you want more boost then a ecu is a most have.
Now I have not played around with a 9-3ss yet, but as Dean states it might be worth a look at the SMBC installation to help you out with your installation. The instructions are listed below with pictures of the installation on a t-7 9-5. Good luck with your install and please let us know how it went.
