My statment was intended for the $100 oil change being a rip-off. $55 is high in my book but not theft like a $100 oil change.
Years ago, I paid something like $350 for a scheduled maintenance on a Nissian Maxima from a dealer, no plugs air/fuel filter... just an oil change and inspection of brakes and other systems. Oh yeah, they threw in a fuel injection cleaning that wasn't scheduled.
I called Nissan corporate and they said they had no control over dealer prices but also added that the range in cost for that scheduled maintenence in the U.S. ranged from $50 to $600. Guess you know I never went back there.
