Originally my locking system was set up to lock and unlock with the remote and the trunk would open (without the alarm going off) and relock when shut. Then we noticed that once in a blue moon you could open the trunk with the button that is located on the trunk but not all the time. So I did some research and come to find out the dealer did not even realize you could open the trunk from the switch on the trunk. In the end they fixed it to work all the time and I had my locks system changed. Now when I get in and go down the road the car automatically locks. Unlocks (just drivers door) when I pull the key out. If I unlock the trunk to get in I have to make sure I relock it. Of course now I have to make sure I unlock the car prior to opening up the trunk or the alarm will go off. That started after the reprogramming. I do not have a parking garage any where near where I live so I am not able to help you with that scenario. You need to ask your dealer about tech II options.
